

Jack was born to John E and Mildred Hightower de la Rua on October 23, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School and attended CBU and University of Memphis prior to enlisting in the Marine Corp. He was co-owner of Robinson-De La Rua Advertising Agency and retired from The Memphis Commercial Appeal.
He was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Ellendale Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee where he sang in the choir every Sunday. He was a leader in his Sunday School class and helped establish the “Old Lions” breakfast prayer group.
He was an ardent fisherman and past member of the Backlashers Bass Club.
He was much loved by his family and he will be greatly missed by his best pal Cocoa and many friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley Vanderford de la Rua of Bartlett; four sons; Brad de la Rua of Bartlett, Curtis Brewer (Susan) of Rosemark, Mark Brewer (Jill) of Byhalia and Earl Brewer (Miki) of Bartlett; three daughters; Lauri de la Rua Smith of Memphis, Carol Berryman (Don) of Iuka and Paula Campbell of Corinth. He is also survived by eleven grandsons: Spencer Smith, Hunter Smith, Richard Johnson, Mickey Myrick (Abbey), Adam Brewer, Jon Green (Elysia), Tim Green (Tatum), Matthew Brewer (Megan), Garrett Brewer (Anna), Landon Brewer (Kasey), and Blake Brewer; two granddaughters: Christi Shaw (Jason) and Brittni Winter (Brad); seventeen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Martha Diane Dieter (Robert) of Tampa, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5- 8 p.m. Monday evening, March 7th at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. The funeral service will be held at Ellendale Baptist Church, 3861 Broadway Rd, Bartlett at 10:00 on Tuesday, March 8th with burial at Bethuel Cemetery in Kerriville.
