
James R. Chandler, Sr., 85, of Bartlett passed away June 13, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis after a brief illness. Having served in the United States Navy During WWII with the 126th, 86th and 146th US Naval Construction Battalions (Seabees) he received an honorary veterans diploma from Bartlett High School in 2000. He is also a communicant at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett and a member of the WWII Veterans Association of Bartlett. The family will receive guests and friends on Thursday, June 14 from 5PM – 8PM with a Rosary beginning at 7PM at St. Ann Church of Bartlett. Funeral mass will be at St. Ann on Friday, June 15 beginning at 10AM. Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens of Poplar Avenue has charge of the arrangements. Mr. Chandler was preceded death by his wife Josephine Chandler. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Chandler Levy (David); sons Ricky Chandler (Sharon), David Chandler (Cassandra) and Tim Chandler (Mary); his best friend and long time companion Mary Elizabeth; sister Frances King of Murrieta, CA; brothers Lou Chandler of Shreveport, LA and Robert Chandler of Memphis; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
