James “Sonny” Leem, 75, passed away on June 7, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family after a short illness. James loved life and his family more than anything else. He was a collector of cars, guns and fine bourbon. He took classes for snowboarding and was an avid golfer for many years.
He and his wife lived a very active lifestyle. They loved scuba diving, fast cars, racing, and Harley’s, which they both had. Together they traveled extensively and visited 48 States and Europe, as well as living in Canada. He always found a special way to celebrate their love and even took Nancy for a champagne breakfast in a hot air balloon ride over Disney. Together they would raise money in their car clubs for Baptist Children’s Home and The Oral School for Hearing. He was a Mason for many, many years and served as a Trustee and member of Covington United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Leem; children, Angie Ishie (Randy), James Christopher Leem (Michelle), Deann Campbell (Anthony), Kevin Leem (Mhadi), and Michael Leem (Karla); grandchildren, Candice Kirby, Randy Ishie, Jr., Cameron Leem, Kimn Hinkson, Stephanie Hinkson, Ethan Leem, Ethan Leem and Aidan Leem; great-grandchildren, Caleb Kirby, Kailoni Miller, Presley Fulton, Zech Ishie, Layla and Hayes Moses; brother, Danny Leem; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family will receive guests on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 4-6pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Family Funeral Care, with burial immediately following at Memphis Memory Garden, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
