Jimmy was one of a kind, his sense of humor was unmatched and his quick wit kept anyone around him on their toes. He was never one to verbally express his love for those around him, but he had a way of letting those know how special and important they were through his actions. He cherished his sister, Cissy, dearly, holding her up on a pedestal and leaning on her throughout his life. The bond they had was paramount and untouchable. I’m sure some of his fondest memories would be living with her and her family for a few years after moving to Alabama. Jimmy was privileged to help in the raising of Cissy’s three daughters. “Unca Jimmy” made an enormous impact in their lives that will not soon be forgotten.
Holly, Rebecca, Bethany, and Caitlyn were all lucky to have not only an uncle, but a friend as well. Many festivals, musicals, lunches, trips, and adventures were enjoyed with him throughout their adult years.
Jimmy was also an avid animal lover, he cared very deeply for many pets. I’m positive Jag and Butch were waiting patiently for him to get home.
Jimmy is survived in death by his four nieces Holly Swift (Tony), Rebecca Trammell (Arthur), Bethany Russell (Justin), and Caitlyn Berry (Jeffrey); his four nephews, Casey Sargent, Ryan Sargent (Miccah), Brandon Sargent (Minh-Anh), and Christopher Sargent; and as well as his beloved cat, Jinx.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James and Marlyn Sargent, mother, Marian Sargent, brothers, Michael Sargent and Robbie Sargent, and his sister Cissy Flesher and brother-in-law Randy Flesher.
A graveside service for James will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemphisFuneralPoplar.com for the Sargent family.
