

Jean Harlor Thomas, completed her earthly journey, December 9th, 2015, surrounded by her children. Born September 17, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio. Jean graduated from The Ohio State University where she met the love of her life, Robert W. “Bob” Thomas. She was a second generation member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority whom she served in several positions including Province President. Bob and Jean were married June 17, 1944 and moved to Memphis with Ellen, Patti, and David in 1958 where they started the Chickasaw Country Club Swim Team. They traveled extensively over their lives and Jean worked for Huffman-Reiter Travel agency. She was a Gold Life Master bridge player and actively played in weekly games at the Lightman Bridge Club and the Wednesday night Bridge League at Chickasaw, which she helped start. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Buz Harlor. She is survived by sisters Barbara Fitzgerald, Connie Magee, and Sally Myers and her children Ellen Thomas Cockrell with husband Dick, Patti Thomas Ford, and David Thomas with wife Harriet. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jennifer McNinch and Husband Jim, Heather Rickels and husband Mike, John Cockrell, Meg Cockrell, Morgan Thomas, Kristine Thomas and Paul Thomas with wife Choi, Kristin Culpepper and husband Trey, and George Hogan and wife Gowoon. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Fiona Rickels, Devin Rickels, Mason Thomas, Hattie Culpepper, George Culpepper and Autumn Hogan. The funeral and visitation will be held at St. Louis Church at 10:00 A.M. Monday with the burial at Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at 9:00 A.M. The family requests any memorials to be given to either St. Louis Church or the Duration Club.
