

Joe L. Nicholson, of Memphis, retired owner of Hatley’s Auto Service on Madison for 34 years passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the age of 88. He attended Collierville High School and joined the Army and served during WWII in the Philippines. Joe was a member of Collierville United Methodist Church. He found great joy in music and playing the Mandolin with his band. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Dean Nicholson. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Viola Nicholson, two stepsons, Jeff Todd (Debbie), Jerry Todd; three step-grandchildren, Susan Eaton, Rebecca Todd, Megan Todd; one step-great-grandchild, Emmanuel Todd; two sisters Eula Brown, Jessie May Brewer; six nephews, Jimmy Baird, Tony Brown, Joey Brown, Larry Brown, Jerry Brown, David Payne; one niece, Robbie Keys and a host of great-nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held from one o’clock until service time at two o’ clock, on Wednesday, August 12 in the chapel at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119, with interment to follow in Longtown Cemetery in Crenshaw, MS.
