

John Reynal Hudson, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2010. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday August 30, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. in the South Chapel of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Poplar Avenue. John was a member of Central Church for 35 years and served as a greeter for more than 30 years. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a sonar operator aboard the destroyer USS Allen M Sumner. He survived a Kamikaze attack on the ship that killed 21 of his fellow sailors. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945. Mr. Hudson was an Insurance Executive for over 50 years and a Member of the Million Dollar Roundtable for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, “Gertie”, of 58 years, who passed away on June 21, 2008. He is survived by his three children, George, Mary, and Tim Hudson; and daughter-in-law, Wilda, all of Memphis, TN. He also leaves three grand-children, Allison Hudson, of New York City, and Bobby and John Hudson, of Memphis, TN.
