

John Daniel Martini, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 30, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from Nicholas Blackwell High school class of 1952. Dan was an active communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bartlett, and a 4th degree Knight and Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus. He sat on the board of Memphis Goodwill Industries, and proudly received the UNICO Mazzei Americanism Award of 1994. In his professional life, Dan was employed by T.H. McKnight and Sons Food Brokers for 32 years, where he retired as president and CEO. Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty Pat Gentry Martini, and preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Ann Howell Martini and son John Daniel Martini, Jr. He leaves his children, Tina Martini Ballard, Michael Anthony (Tony) Martini, Dee Anne Bell Tedford, Scott Manuel Bell; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, other extended family and countless friends. He will be greatly missed. The family requests any memorials please be sent to Memphis Goodwill Industries. Arrangements have been made with Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens with the visitation being held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, with Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, TN on Thursday, October 4 at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Memphis.
