John Clois Montgomery, Jr. was born to Clois and Leona Montgomery, in Munford TN on May 23, 1956, and ended his earthly journey June 24, 2018. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and most importantly husband to his best friend Harriet to whom he was married for 27 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sisters, Nell Huffman, Kay Gatlin (Jerry), and Beverly Keith (Donald) and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who gave him a happy heart.
John received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The University of TN at Martin and, while employed in the Auditing field was a certified internal systems auditor. He was a longtime employee of Dobbs Intl/Gate Gourmet, retiring in 2015. John had a love of the arts and never met a craft or project he didn’t like. His interests included wood working, basket weaving, carpentry, metalwork, making trinkets for his nieces, and especially admiring and visiting the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.
John’s sense of humor was one of his greatest assets. It kept many of us laughing with him. He had a kind heart, a strong faith and sweet spirit. He was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church where he served on just about every committee ever created and he did so willingly! As a child, John was a connoisseur of comic books. He and his niece, Candace, would sit for hours reading and mulling over the adventures of Superman. While vacationing with family to the beach, mountains, or wherever, he was still engrossed in his superman comic books. This was a vision for his future. He was a Superman. Despite major health issues including a liver transplant in May 2017, he fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith. We are at peace knowing that John is breathing freely and without pain. You will be missed John, Johnny. Fly High Superman! You are much loved.
