He proudly served our country in the United States Navy and will be laid to rest with Honors at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. He had a tremendous amount of pride in his military service. He thoroughly enjoyed his travels! He credited his training in the Navy for opening his eyes to the wonderful world of computer technology.
Jon married his beloved wife, Karen Carter on June 30th, 1989 and they were by each other’s side for 31 years. Jon was always there to advise his brother and sisters and had a laugh that was contagious. He was extremely bright and could remember details verbatim. He was passionate about people and animals and would always help those in need.
Jon was incredibly kind-hearted and would literally give you the shirt off his back. Seems like a common phrase but if there was ever a time that someone was in need and he had $100 bill in his pocket he would…without hesitation share! And perhaps even go a step further and give you his change too! He “rescued” many dogs over the years off the streets around his neighborhood. He claimed they would just “show up”! And he would take them in.
His faith in the Lord was strong. Jon was not afraid to die. On many occasions stating that when it was his time he would go willingly to sit by the Lord.
As a child, his mother and father both describe Jon as a sweet and loving boy. My dad fondly remembering many naps taken on his chest while he sat in the recliner. He and my mom were only 19 when Jon was born. Still kids themselves Jon taught them how to be better parents. He was the motivation that encouraged them to provide a better life!
Family, friends, and others whose lives Jon touched are invited to attend his virtual memorial that will be live streamed on Facebook, on Monday, October 5 at 9:30am central/7:30am pacific time
Please join us to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and pay respects. Jon, my brother, will be missed but not forgotten. May he Rest in Peace!
