

Popi was born in Pireaus, Greece on April 30, 1948, to Stelios and Sofia Vranakis.
Popi leaves behind her daughters, Tina Jones (Bill) of Arlington, TN and Sofia Wilson (Robert) of Memphis, TN. her grandchildren, Kayla (Troy), Taylor, Krista (Brad), Marina (Mason), and Courtney; her great grandchildren, Makennah, Kenzleigh, Paisley, Elian; her brother Theodore of Pireaus, Greece and many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply.
In addition to her parents, Popi was also preceded in death by her brother Matthew Vranakis.
Popi was passionate about raising her girls and was a sought-after expert seamstress which was something she absolutely loved. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox church in Bartlett, TN where she was part of a group of ladies who would cook for the Greeekfest and holidays every year.
She was devoted to her family and always made sure no one was without. She never met a stranger and was very welcoming and kind. She always made sure if you would visit that you would never leave hungry and always feel loved.
She was known as Yiayia (grandmother in Greek) to all who knew and loved her.
A gathering of family and friends for Kalliope will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134 following the service.
