Karen is the daughter of the late Marjorie Underwood and Aidan Underwood of Memphis. Karen moved to Memphis in 1972, graduating from St. Agnes Academy in 1976. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Stuart Saunders Miller. Karen and Stuart were married upon her graduation from the University of Tennessee, where she majored in fashion merchandising. They remained very happily married until Stuart’s death in September, 2009.
Karen is survived by her son, Drew Houston Miller; her father, Aidan Underwood; her siblings Mark Underwood (Brigid), Lynne Underwood Downs (Gene), Kristin Underwood McGinnis (Ed), and Greg Underwood (Leigh Ann); her brother-in-law, Richard Houston Miller; her sister-in-law, Patricia Miller Snider, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Karen was an avid UT football fan. She was passionate about the Vols, and would adjust her schedule every fall to make sure she could watch all their games. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18 at Memphis Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00pm with the memorial service to follow immediately at 2:00pm.
