LaVerne Dallas Day died peacefully August 29, 2025, at the age of 87. She leaves her daughter Gerri Endicott (Alan), granddaughters Tina Endicott and Jessica Kinslow (Wesley), and great-grandson, Linus Kinslow. She was predeceased by her parents, James Lavern Dallas and Bessie Lee Dallas, and sister, Jeanenne Dallas Herman.
LaVerne was a life-long Memphian, graduating from Messick High School in 1956. She was a faithful attendee at every class reunion, and her belongings include a Messick Panthers letter jacket, still in near-new condition. In her youth she was involved in Rainbow Girls and loved roller skating. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing. She never missed an episode of Happy Days or LaVerne and Shirley - dressing as “LaVerne”, complete with script L appliqued on her shirt, at costume parties. In her later years she developed a devotion to NFL football.
Her greatest joys were her granddaughters and great-grandson. She was a loving, caring, supportive, and fun grandmother.
The family offers heartfelt thanks to the staff of Shelby Gardens Place who provided loving care for LaVerne throughout her final years, as well as to Hope Hospice offering support through her last day.
