Lester Lee Churchill, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. The son of Robert and Ruth Churchill (deceased), Les grew up in Memphis where he graduated from Humes High School. He became an electrician and retired from Allen Electric several years ago. A member of Bellevue Baptist Church, Les was pleased to participate in mission work with his church, including two African mission trips. He particularly enjoyed fishing, going out on his boat, and working around the house in his spare time. Les had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was a hard worker who took pride in doing a good job, whatever the task.
Les leaves his beloved wife of 24 years, Carolyn McKnight Moore Churchill, of Bartlett, and his sister, Marilyn Byers, of Memphis. Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Deedee Churchill of Memphis, daughter Stacey Churchill of Michigan, stepdaughters Michele Alsbrook and Melisa Moore of Memphis, and Allyson Hignight and her husband Eric of Orlando, Florida. Les also leaves his grandchildren Jeffrey, Josh, and Jesse Churchill, Jessica and Daniel Forrester, and Madasyn and Garasen Alsbrook. During his lengthy illness, he felt especially blessed by the loving care provided by his wife Carolyn and granddaughter Madasyn.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway.
