

Lillian M. Lipe, 84, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Madison, Alabama. Born, February 22, 1927, a farmer's daughter in Flatwoods, KY she moved to Pensacola, FL at the age of 14 to pursue a high school education. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1945 and followed up with a career of 45 years with AT&T. Lillian was a strong and willful woman of strength and great pride. Lillian was a long time member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a founder of their Young Adults group in the 1970's. Lillian leaves her daughters, Melinda Malik and Kimberly Mathews of Madison, AL, her granddaughters, Jennifer Chesser and Brandy Smith of Madison, her granddaughter Gina Garner of Winner, SD and her grandson, James "Chris" Grimes of Bartlett, TN; and 3 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 5599 Poplar Avenue Memphis on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Memphis Funeral Home Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
