Lois Inez Ballew, age 93, of Cordova, Tennessee passed, away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. She was born January 14, 1930, in Hopper, Arkansas, to Horace Duke and Eula Hunter Duke. Lois graduated from Caddo Gap High School. She was the former owner of a Big Star grocery store and later worked for and retired from the University of Memphis.
Lois was a member of Great Oaks Church of Christ. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Top Spinners. She was also an avid flower gardener, a Memphis Grizzles fan and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and watching Westerns. She was very fond of her two dogs, Coco and Abby.
Lois is survived by her son, Don Tackett; step-daughter, Lynne Paredes (Bob); grandchildren, Zachery Tackett, Christy Lain, Dustin Tackett (Tabby), and Rob and Chris Paredes; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Wilkerson, Brianna Tackett, Chelsea Tackett, Zachery Tackett Jr., Grace Lain, Ashlyn Lain, Molly Tackett, Liam Tackett, Lyric Tackett, David Paredes, Cindy Paredes, Wyatt Paredes, and Wiley Paredes; and nieces, Lisa Macon, Tammy Johns, and Mendy Johns. Lois was preceded in death by husbands, Garland Tackett and Luther Ballew; and her son, Chris Tackett.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at 1:00 PM, at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN.
