Derek was one of the kindness people you could ever meet. There are many that loved him, but God loves him more.

He was my mentor,  big brother, and in some aspects a father figure to me growing  up.  He will definitely be missed.

My most sincere condolences to the Renfroe family during this time of grieving.  Derek was a dear colleague and friend to me. We served together in the bar association over the years and anytime I needed a second opinion on any issue I could turn to him for help. I will miss him, and cherish his memory. 

Take solace in knowing that grief will end and  joy comes in the morning. ~Psalms 30:5.

My condolences to Kim Renfroe-Williamson, my South Side H.S. classmate ('74), regarding Derek's death. He was like a little brother.

Growing up around Lorenzo Renfroe was a blessing on my life.

My deepest condolences to Lorenzo's loved ones.  He was one of my Southside Scrappers back when I was a baby teacher. He was in my upper-level math courses and was a star--smart kiddo, as his very accomplished adult life showed.  I was lucky enough to have had dinner with him and a couple of other Scrappers a couple of years ago, and I will always be grateful for that.
