

Mardine "Dini" Rogers was born on November 6, 1955 in Memphis, TN to Morriese Rogers, Sr. and Catherine Hawes Rogers. She was the second eldest of four children having arrived one hour ahead of her twin brother. Mardine was called to be with the Lord on January 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father Morriese Rogers, Sr.
Mardine attended Norris Elementary and Corry Junior High School. She was a proud Hamilton High School Wildcat graduating with the class of '73. Mardine attended Shelby State Community College where she majored in Early Childhood Development, and graduated with an Associate's degree in 1977. A few years later, she married her high school sweetheart Matthew Redmond, and they enjoyed 20 years of marriage. Mardine worked as a teacher at Educare Preschool. She then became a retail associate at K-mart. Following that, Mardine joined the Federal Express family and spent 30 years as a dedicated employee.
Mardine was a member of New Salem Baptist Church on Fourth St. She was very active with her Hamilton High School Alumni, and helped organize events that kept her classmates a close-knit group. Mardine was a people person whose generosity and outgoing nature made her popular. Her son Julius remarked that she always seemed to know people no matter where she went.
She is survived by her son, Julius Ray Jones, Jr.; mother, Catherine H. Rogers; sisters, Janice Fleming and Beverly Engleberg; brother, Morriese Rogers, Jr.; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
