
Margaret Voyles Parker transitioned from this life at her home after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s on Friday, November 4th, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Parker, three sisters, and a brother. Mrs. Parker was survived by her daughters, Sherry Parker Griffith (Fred) and Patti Parker Dennis (Kelly), three grandchildren, Christopher Dennis, Kylie Dennis and Parker Griffith (Kristy), a great-grandchild, a sister, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Parker had a lifelong passion for fashion and hair styling. During World War II she contributed to the war effort by inspecting bombs at National Fireworks. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Margaret was a member of Highland Street Church of Christ for over 30 years. The daughters want to express their sincere gratitude for retired minister Larry McKenzie for performing the service and his lifelong support of the family. They also want to thank Roberta Parker, "Aunt Sis" for her enduring love and care. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, November the 6th at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. in Memphis from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening. The funeral service will be on Monday, November the 7th, also at the funeral home at 10 o'clock in the morning. The committal will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that donations be sent to Baptist Trinity Hospice. Mrs. Parker's daughters cordially invite friends and family to a reception following the committal service at Hampton Inn, 962 S. Shady Grove Rd. in Memphis.
