MARGARET SNYDER, 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Snyder. After her father’s death, Margaret (12) lived with Ernest and Nanny Williams, close family friends. They lovingly raised her with their four daughters, Ernestine, Mary George, Nannette and Pearl. Known as “Aunt Margaret”, this friendship continued throughout her life with these sisters and their children - this being the only family she had really known. Ernestine’s children: J. Robert (Bobby), Gay and Cheri stayed close with “Aunt Margaret” and she always shared in their love at the special Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners - for all these years. Mary George: Jimmy Ray, John, Pam, Jerry, Oregon; Nannette: Dianne, Tennessee; and Pearl: Terry, Tim, Tom, Ted, Ohio. After 25 years, she retired from the Baptist Hospital. Margaret and Joe Parks became good friends during the years they co-owned “The Vance House”. Margaret’s favorite pastime was staying at the Hotel Peabody and riding the Memphis Queen. After Mr. Parks death his niece, Martha Miller, became close friends with Margaret, caring for her health needs for about 30 years. Margaret lived at Highland Towers Apts. until she broke her hip. She moved to Land Mark Nursing Home, Horn Lake, MS. While Margaret never married or had any children of her own, she was greatly loved by all of her “adopted” families. She always laughed and said that maybe her long life was attributed to no husband and no children. God blessed “Aunt Margaret” with much love during her years. Visitation from 12-2 p.m., Wednesday, June 5 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m . in Forest Hill Midtown.
