

Martha Sue Flynn of Memphis, TN died in the early morning of Wednesday, May 6, 2015. She was 88. Mrs. Flynn was a retired accounting employee of Penaco. Being very active throughout her life Martha Sue was a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America, very active member of the Wells Station PTA, and the Summer Avenue Eastern Star. She was a 61 year member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church where she was the treasurer of her Sunday School class for 40 years and an adult counselor for the Methodist Youth Fellowship at the church. The children invite family and friends to a gathering held on Sunday, May 10th from four o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 11th beginning at ten o’clock in the morning conducted by Rev. John Jones and Rev. Kim Kulow. All of these services will be at the Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Mrs. Flynn was predeceased by her husband Charles A. Flynn; sister Ruth Geneva Thompson Kee; brother Robert Denton Thompson; and son-in-law William C. Freeman. She is survived by her children Phyllis (Charlie) Herron, Barbara Watson, Aneta “Betsy” Freeman and Charles N. “Chuck” Flynn; sisters Bettye Jean Thompson Barraza, Nancy Patrick McLain and Ann Thompson Kendrick; three grandsons, one granddaughter; one great-grandson and three great-granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many very special lifelong friends of her St. Stephens Church Family.
