Martha Summers Davis

Martha Summers Davis, 97, of Bartlett, passed away on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Wendell Davis, children, Janice Nicholson and John Wendell Davis, Jr. She was the youngest and last surviving child of Ester and Vernon Summers of Williston, TN. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Wolfe and her husband Sam, and Carol Elam, daughter-in-law, Karen Davis, ten grandchildren, Barry Nicholson, Robin Rose, Janie Simmons, Rhonda Cook, Jay Davis, Sara Davis, Brett Wolfe, Jeremy Wolfe, Eric Elam and Jason Elam, twenty-three great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was a wife, homemaker and life-long member of Brunswick Baptist Church. She was the last of her generation. If there were any children or “little ones” around, you could bet that she was there holding them and caring for them even if it were to share smiles. The visitation is on Sunday, March 5th, 2017 from twelve o’clock in the afternoon until two o’clock in the afternoon at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue in Memphis. The funeral will commence at two o’clock. The Rite of Committal will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Arlington. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Mrs. Davis to Brunswick Baptist Church, 5079 Brunswick Road, Arlington, Tennessee 38002.
