Memphis – Mary Cummings, 89, was born February 2, 1924 in Marietta, MS and passed away April 18, 2013 in the comfort of her home in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Cummings was a longtime active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. During World War II, she worked for Fischer Aircraft in Memphis, TN. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Cummings Stegbauer and her husband, William Stegbauer, Patti Cummings Blassingame and three grandchildren, Jennifer Blassingame Hughes, David Stegbauer, and Scott Stegbauer. She was preceded in death by Ira Cummings, her husband of 57 years. Visitation and reception will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 11:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home. A private graveside service for family members will be held at Forest Hill Cemetary South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial to be sent to the Mary and Ira Hall Cummings Youth Ministry Fund at Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Memphis (www.gracestlukes.org/onlinegiving) or the charity of your choice.
