

Marye Kirksey Jennings, age 92, of Germantown passed away on February 26 after a short illness. Marye, a lifelong Memphian, was married for 62 years to Roy Jennings, who passed away in 2007. She was the daughter of James Ebern Kirksey and his wife, Zula Wheatley Kirksey. She leaves her daughter, Gail Jennings, her sister, Marguerite Kirksey, and a niece, Debra Byrd (Mrs. Robert C.), as well as a great niece and 2 great nephews.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Jennings was a faithful member of Germantown Baptist Church. She had a regular seat on a front row of the church where she was always happy to give and receive hugs from her fellow church members. She enjoyed volunteer work at the Baptist Women's Hospital and the Church Health Center.
As a girl she was Worthy Advisor in the Rainbow Girls. She graduated from Southside High School and worked for many years for the Memphis Compress and Storage Co., eventually retiring from there,
Her funeral will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be a reception from 4:00 - 6:00 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lattimore, 307 Colbert Street East, Collierville, TN 38017.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to the Church Health Center, 1210 Peabody Ave., Memphis, TN. 38104 or the Germantown Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry.
