Maurice Poppenheimer, Jr., 85, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home. He was the only child of the late Maurice Poppenheimer, Sr. and the late Romie Bowen Poppenheimer. A lifelong Memphian, Mr. Poppenheimer graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1950 and attended Memphis State College. A decorated veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his tour, he returned to Memphis where he entered mortgage banking and, ultimately, had a successful career in real estate investing. Mr. Poppenheimer was a devoted member of the Unity Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. In recent years, he enjoyed retirement and the camaraderie of close friends. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at the Memphis Funeral Home with a 2 p.m. service to follow.
