Michael James Jones

Michael James Jones was born in Hammond, LA on March 25, 1953 to James Arnold and Mae Surratt Jones who preceded him in death. Michael passed away on September 5, 2015 at the age of 62. Michael lived to help other people, and volunteered for Scout Troop 364. He was a wonderful dad, husband and brother who never met a stranger. Michael had the gift of Gab and hardly ever let you get a word in edgewise, which is one of those things you find out you love and miss about someone when they are gone. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Becky Daniels Jones; son, Michael Evan Jones; step-son, Denver Edward Sowell; sister, Linda Jones of Memphis; honorary mother, Faye Daniels of Hernando; honorary sister, Martha Gibbs of Adamsville, TN; and cousins, Don Jones, Jerry and Kenneth Hill, and James Houston. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 10 from five o’clock to seven o’clock in the evening, with services to begin on Friday September 11 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Scout Troop 364, Attn: Balmoral Presbyterian Church, 6413 Quince Rd, Memphis, TN 38119 or to the American Heart Association at 2170 Business Center Dr. #1, Memphis, TN 38134, (901) 383-5400.
