Mildred Estelle Matlock departed this life from Collierville, Tennessee on March 14, 2026 after a long illness. She was born on August 6, 1935 in Blue Mountain, Mississippi to Pinckney Adolphus Farrow and Mildred Miller Farrow, and was lovingly raised by her aunt Noverta Farrow Street and John Street in Tippah County. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Thomas Matlock, whom she married on December 23, 1955. She is survived by her three children—John Farrow Matlock (Cara) of Senatobia, Mississippi; Scott Thomas Matlock (Paige) of Memphis; and Connie Matlock Blabey (Tim) of Collierville—and by four grandsons, Jack Conley Matlock, John Harrison Blabey, William Taylor Blabey, and Joshua Timothy Blabey.
Mildred was graduated from Shady Grove High School in 1953 as valedictorian of her class. She and John made their home in Memphis until 1959, when they settled in Germantown and became members of Germantown Baptist Church. She worked for 30 years by the side of John and his brother-in-law Lester Cox as bookkeeper for their firm C & M Builders, of which she was latterly the president. After they retired, she enjoyed travelling with John, but most of all, spending time with the family she loved.
