

Nathan Louis McGee left this world on June 19, 2013. He was a skilled craftsman with a strong work ethic, and a remarkable wit and sense of humor that he passed on to his daughters and sons. He joined the Navy at 17, and he served as a Navy Seabee in the Pacific during WWII. He passed peacefully surrounded by his 6 children Patrick McGee, Catherine McGee, Bonnie Smith, Timothy McGee, Bridget Lipsey, and Theresa Scherr. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Lillian, and his grandson Joshua W Brown. His 4 surviving sisters are Leah, Catherine, Patsy, and Annette. He also leaves behind daughters-in-law Joan McGee and Judy McGee and sons-in-law Danny Lipsey and Michael Scherr, as well as 11 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids. In memory of his wife Lillian he devoted 22 years as a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital. A rosary service will be held on Sunday, June 23 at 5 pm, visitation will follow from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
