Ollie Sue McEnany

It is with deepest regret that we must announce the passing of Ollie Sue McEnany on May 12, 2015 at 6:10 PM after a long battle with cancer. Sue was 78 years old. She leaves behind a loving husband of 56 years, Phillip McEnany, Sr., three children, Phillip (Cary) McEnany, Jr., Keith McEnany and wife Dawn, and Mary McEnany Chandler, six grandchildren, Phillip (Traye) McEnany III, Dallas Chase McEnany, Matt Chandler, Mason Chandler, Keith (Mac) McEnany II, and Carter McEnany.

Sue was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee in 1936 and lived the majority of her young life in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Southside High School, attended University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and Memphis State University. In 1958, she became a stewardess for Southern Airways in Atlanta, Georgia where she met her husband, Phil McEnany who was also from Memphis. They were married on February 7, 1959.

After performing accounting service for several companies, she became a partner and accountant in her husband’s transportation company. Sue had a tremendous desire for interior decorating. She left her husband’s business to form a china and crystal shop and interior decorating company, Marsue’ Interiors. In 1992, she sold her business and retired with her husband to their country home. Sue and her husband moved to Westerville, Ohio, where they lived for seven years before returning to Memphis in 2005.

Sue had a passion for art. She was a member of Bartlett Senior Citizens where she attended the art class. She loved painting pictures to give to her children and other family members.

She was an excellent dancer. She and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing at the sky roof of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, as well as fifties type music with friends and family.

Last but not least, Sue was a devout Christian. A member of Bellevue Baptist Church, she would spread the word of her Lord, Jesus Christ, to everyone she met. She not only spread the word, but lived it every day of her life.

Sue will be deeply missed.
