

Orville Baxter Manley, 90, of Memphis, formerly of Union City, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Manley had spent most of his life in the Memphis area and had retired from American General Life Insurance Company after 46 years of service. Mr. Manley was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy aboard the USS Gage. He participated in the Battle of Okinawa and he was involved in the original occupation forces to land in Japan. Mr. Manley is survived by his wife, Doris Manley of Memphis; a daughter, Carole Manley of Memphis; two sons, Stephen (Nicole) Manley of Moscow, TN and David (Tonya) Manley of Southaven, MS. Mr. Manley is also survived by five grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 12 from 5-7:30 p.m.; and Services will be held Wednesday, May 13 at 11 a.m., both at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, 5599 Poplar Ave. The Manley Family asks that any memorials be sent in memory of Mr. Manley to the Food Pantry of First Baptist Church of Memphis, TN.
