Oscar Harris, Jr. was born December 15, 1952. He transitioned from life in the early morning hours of May 12, 2020. He was born to Oscar and Ruby Harris in Memphis, TN. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B. T. Dumas. He attended Patterson School and Douglas High School. Later, he joined the United States Army, where he served as a cable splicer. He received several medals for his active duty service in Vietnam and for his sharp shooting skills. After retiring from the Army, he worked at Memphis Veterans Adminstration Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and two sisters, Peggy Burkins and Thelma Dixon. He leaves four sisters and two brothers: Earnestine Hodge of Detroit, Michigan, Earline (Howard) Perkins of Southfield Michigan, Diana Smith of Memphis, TN, and Margaret (Eddie) Robinson of Sherwood, AR, Larry Alexander, and Floyd (Geneva) Alexander, Jr. both of Memphis, TN and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other beloved family members and friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to The Holistic Care Home.
A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:00am at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 725-0100.

Burial will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date and will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
