Patricia MacLeod Burkard was born in Portland, Maine on August 2, 1932. She grew up in Bangor, Maine while developing a passion for reading, travel and the desire to chart her own course. This led her to move on her own to Boston, Massachusetts after high school.
While living and working in Boston, she accepted a blind date with a gentleman named James Ulmer (Jim) Burkard; a blind date which would ultimately culminate in a beautiful marriage and the birth of three children, Linda, Jimmy and Scott, along with three grandchildren – Evan, Cyrus and Surraya.
Further adventures took the couple to Nashville, Tennessee, where she raised her children to be hard workers, life-long learners and good citizens. Patricia loved her life in Nashville where she made wonderful friends, maintained influence over the formal and informal education of her children, and honed her skills in crafts to create a beautiful home. She enjoyed many social functions with her husband Jim and her many friends.
Other career-related adventures took the couple to Arlington, Texas for quite a number of years before an eventual retirement in Memphis, Tennessee. Patricia will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family.
