

Peter Philip Ferron, Jr. (“Pete”); age 95; of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away on October 22, 2025, after a short illness. A decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, he served with honor and distinction until his retirement in 1972. Among his many accolades, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for aerial flight at Cam Ranh Bay & Ton Son Nhut (Vietnam) during the period of September 1966 to July 1969. Other awards included the Air Medal with a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Presidential Unit Citation; USMC Presidential Unit Citation, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. After retirement from military service, he was employed in aircraft equipment sales at Rockwell International, Memphis Avionics, and the Memphis Group. He retired from Federal Express where he was a classroom and simulator instructor in the ground school. He remained a licensed airline transport pilot, flight instructor and flight engineer until 2024. He was an active member and served on the board of the Memphis Navy Flying Club. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends in the skeet and trap community for his shooting and his sales. He was an avid hunter of dove, quail, pheasant, deer, and elk. He was a parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bartlett. Mr. Ferron is survived by his children, Lucy Ferron Franck (Chuck) of Houston, Texas; Peter P. Ferron III, of Alexandria, Virginia; and Melanie Ferron Simmonds (Mark) of Bartlett, Tennessee; and by his sister, Lori Ferron Lemire of Goffstown, New Hampshire. He is predeceased in death by his wives, Hilda Hansen Ferron and Linda Sparks Ferron; his sister Beverly Ferron Therrien; and his parents, Pierre Philip Ferron, Sr. and Germaine Auger Ferron. Visitation will be held on November 6, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. A Catholic Rite of Committal and Military Honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or to Ducks Unlimited.
