Born to Henry and Edith Taylor, Phyllis grew up with a strong sense of devotion to family and a gentle, giving spirit that carried her through every stage of her life. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Cooper, who faithfully walked beside her through every season of life. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers, Kenneth Taylor Sr. and Wayne Taylor, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Phyllis spent 29 dedicated years at FedEx, where she worked with integrity, kindness, and a genuine care for others. But her greatest joy—and her proudest calling—was being a mother and Gammy. She poured endless love into her children, Nick Sowell (Kim), Courtney Bradford (Brandon), and Katharine Taylor-McBroom (Glenn) and found immeasurable delight in her grandchildren: Luca Sowell, Carter Sowell, Murphy Bradford, Blake Bradford and Henry McBroom. Her family was her heart, and she showed it in every gesture, every smile, and every moment she shared with them.
Phyllis had a true servant’s heart. Whether she was helping a friend, supporting a neighbor, or simply offering a warm smile, she lived her life with compassion and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both at Family Funeral Care in Memphis, Tennessee. A reception will follow.
Phyllis will be deeply missed, but her love, her kindness, and the example she set will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
