

Reno Eugene Greganti, Jr., of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on March 5, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee. Reno served in the U.S. Army during the Korea War.
Reno dedicated 25 years of service to the Memphis Police Department, where his career was marked by numerous commendations from his superiors, including Chief Hutchison, Chief Crumby, and Mayor Wyatt Chandler. His work ranged from arresting robbers to guarding a released kidnapped victim and their family. As a lieutenant, he was praised for his professionalism, leadership ability, and the development of his officers. Reno was known for his remarkable ability to remain calm in every situation.
After his tenure with the MPD, Reno continued his career in law enforcement at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he retired as deputy chief of the Campus Police. There, he maintained his commitment to professionalism and leadership, ensuring the continued training of his officers in areas such as firearms and bicycle patrol. Reno was always a hands-on training officer and an excellent example to his colleagues.
Outside of his career, Reno enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife in their Tiffin motorhome seeing many parts of the country. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs.
Reno is survived by his wife of 24 years, Katrina Crudgington Greganti; daughter, Mindy Gregant Weaver (Shannon); son, Reno Greganti III (Ashley); step-son, James Crudgington Smith; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Kelley (Ken), Henry Greganti (Margaret), Mark Greganti, Mike Greganti, John Greganti (Melanie), and Susan Whittington (Matt); as well as a family friend, Chris Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reno Greganti Sr.; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crudgington; brother-in-law, Craig Simrell; the mother of his children, Jeanne Mahon; and his best friend, Ed Solero.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 7 beginning with Visitation at 9:30 AM, Rosary at 10:00 AM, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, located at 8151 Chimneyrock Boulevard, Cordova, Tennessee. Graveside service with military honors will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis. Afterwards, there will be a catered reception for family and friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis.
