

Robert Henry Gray, Jr., 74, of Burlison, Tennessee, passed away on December 27, 2025. He was born on February 25, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Robert Gray, Sr. and Marie Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Wolfe, and his brothers, Jerry Wolfe and Bobby Gray.
Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vicki Gray, and his sister, Sherri Byers (George).
He had a special love for his nephew Mike who was born Down Syndrome and every time he saw a child that reminded him of Mike, he had to talk to them and try to make them feel special.
Robert had a lifelong passion for speed and mechanics. He loved race cars, traveling in his motor home to every NASCAR Race he and Vickie and their beloved dogs Murphy and Sadie could attend. He loved hot rods, high-performance engines, motorcycles, boats, and anything fast.
He worked at Layne and Bowler for 17 years and then started his own business Specialty Machine where he built racing engines and custom parts. He enjoyed hunting and cooking and especially had a knack for trying new recipes such as making his own sausage, bacon, salsa etc. and had a natural curiosity that led him to take things apart and put them back together again. Known for his sharp mind, Robert loved numbers and problem-solving. He also enjoyed traveling and once journeyed across the country on his motorcycle, Julie, by himself. Robert was a proud member of the Zodiac Motorcycle Club of Memphis, Tennessee, where he shared lasting friendships and his love of the open road.
Family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10:00am on Friday, January 2 at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN. Services will follow at 10:00am. Interment will be at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN.
