Robert R. “Bob” McKenney, age 59, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at his home. Born January 17, 1957, Bob graduated in 1975 from Memphis Catholic High School. He worked as the manager of Imperial Lanes from the age of sixteen until it closed in 2009. A champion bowler, Bob had four perfect games and, at the age of twenty three, set the record for the highest series ever bowled at Brunswick Bartlett Lanes (771). If you ever bowled at Imperial, you saw Bob’s smiling face and experienced his easy-going personality and his ability to make bowling there an enjoyable experience. A gentle, quiet, loving person, despite his illness, Bob retained his sense of humor and was concerned more for everyone else than he was for himself. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Muns (Bobby), and brother, Edward J. McKenney, Jr. (Barbara), and by his beloved niece and nephew, Melissa Muns and Ryan McKenney, upon whom he doted and showered his affection. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Cecelia Maley McKenney. Visitation will be held at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN, on Friday, February 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a 10 a.m. service at the Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the on-line guest book at the Family Funeral Care website, wwwfamilyfuneralmemphis.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
