Roberta Haley Piecara

Roberta H. Piecara, 87, passed to her heavenly reward on June 1, 2016, after a long illness. A long time Memphis resident, Roberta was born in Obion County, TN on March 17, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Virgie Haley. After attending nearby schools, she moved to Memphis, TN and began a career with Southern Bell Telephone Company. She met the love of her life, Frank Piecara, in Memphis when he was stationed here. They married on September 8, 1951 and began raising their family of Stephen, Diane and Karen. Roberta was active in civic and school activities and loved hosting card parties and ballroom dancing with Frank. She always encouraged her children to achieve their best and proudly spread the news of each of their accomplishments. Her laughter and smile will always be remembered. Roberta is preceded in death by her son, Stephen, and survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Diane Piecara and Karen Watkins of Austin TX; daughter in law, Janet Piecara of Atlanta GA; grandchildren, Patrick Moore, Haley Grant, Leif Moore, Morgaine Moore, Julia Piecara and Duncan Moore of Austin TX, Marsha Ralph of Atlanta, GA; and great grandsons, Clay Ralph and Heston Grant. The family will receive friends Friday, June 3rd at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. from 9 am until the services start at 10 am. Burial will follow in West TN Veterans Cemetery.
