
Roger Bradley Bailey, 68, passed away February 27, 2016 at his home in Mandeville, Louisiana. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Virginia Bailey. He is survived by his son, Brian Bailey(Aimee) of Mt. Juliet, TN, and his stepdaughter, Shannon Shearon (Robert) of Collierville, TN and their mother, Betty Bailey of Bartlett, TN. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim Bailey of Jackson, MS and Ramsey Bailey of Costa Rica. The lights of Roger’s life were his five granddaughters, Eden, Anya and Arrow Bailey and Parker and Maggie Shearon. Roger was born in Jacksonville, FL, moved to Knoxville, TN as a child and later moved to Memphis, TN, where he graduated from Central High School in 1965. He attended Memphis State University before entering the United States Army where he served our country as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. After careers in television and ministry, he enjoyed a successful construction and remodeling business in the New Orleans area. Roger was an avid fan of all sports, but especially the New Orleans Saints and those followed by his children, the University of Memphis and Ole Miss. A longtime member of Germantown Baptist Church, Roger served the Lord faithfully for many years as a Deacon and later as both Interim Pastor and Pastor at numerous churches in Arkansas, Tennessee and Louisiana. He most recently attended the First Baptist Church of Mandeville.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with services conducted at 12 p.m., all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis. Interment will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
