

Ruth Crawford Robbins Ashley was born on November 15, 1929 in Fayette County, TN, to William Sidney and Ruth Pepper Crawford. She passed away April 14, 2015. She graduated from Fayette County High School and married Frank L. Robbins, with whom she raised five children. She worked for many years at Sears Crosstown until the catalog operation moved to Atlanta, then she had a second career at H&R Block. She loved her family, gardening and following local and national news. She was a Southern Baptist. She was predeceased by her first husband, her son Michael C. Robbins, her grandsons, Joshua Robbins and Tanner Robbins, as well as her brothers, William S. Crawford Jr. and Percy H. Crawford and her sisters, Olivia Smith, Ettie P. Stephenson and Agnes Smith. She is survived by her brother, Robert Crawford (Loretta) of Oxnard, CA, and her sisters, Mary Ellen Sztorc (Vic) of Bakersfield, CA, Edna Cook (Larry) of Somerville, TN and her sister-in-law, Lucille Rogers of Memphis. She is also survived by her daughter, Anita Kay (Bruce) of Germantown, TN; three sons, William F. Robbins (Beth) of Germantown, TN, Ronald B. Grantham (Patricia) of Bartlett, TN, George A. Robbins (Caren) of Cordova, TN, and her daughter-in-law, Janet Robbins of Lakeland, TN. She leaves her grandchildren, Kathryn Kay Coquemont (Francois) and Andrew Kay (Natalie), Jess Robbins, Frank and Stephen Grantham, Christopher (Jessica), Paul (Bekky), Adam, and John (Jessica) Robbins, and Zachary and Bryce Robbins. Her great-grandchildren, were precious to her: Kathryn G. DeMott, Clare, Peter, Andrew and Rose Robbins and Penny Coquemont. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She leaves her faithful dog, Grover, in good hands. The family will receive friends Friday April 17, from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel; funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis with interment to follow in Somerville Cemetery.
