Sandra Louise Vaccari, age 67, passed away at her home in Olive Branch, Mississippi on Monday, June 14, 2021. Sandra was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 30, 1953 to Louis and Theresa Vaccari. Her early years were spent in Whitehaven, Tennessee where she attended St. Paul’s elementary and middle school and Bishop Byrne high school. Sandra exhibited a talent for studies in science, and following her high school years, she attended Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She held various positions in the clinical laboratories, and conducted physiological tests on patients, performed clinical chemistry testing on patient samples, and gained some teaching experience.
Throughout her life Sandra enjoyed sports, and became a fan of the New Orleans Saints, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the St. Louis Cardinals. She also loved to travel, particularly cruising, and she visited the Bahamas and several ports in the Caribbean. She also traveled extensively in the United States. Sandra was an active member of the Ladies Italian American Civic League, the Cordova Super Seniors, and the Kennel Club. She assisted in training dogs and cherished many pets during her lifetime. In addition to her family and many friends and acquaintances, she leaves behind two of her favorite pets, Missy and Yoshi.
A visitation for Sandra will be held Friday, June 18, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:00 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
Entombment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
