Sara Ray Mitchell

SARA RAY MITCHELL, age 82, died February 17, 2013. Sara was born in Grand Junction, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Joice Evan (Mitch) Mitchell, her sister, Dorothy Ray Anderson, her two brothers, Howard Thomas Ray, Sr. and James Alfred Ray. Sara leaves her three children, David Evan Mitchell (Jean), Sylvia J. Mitchell-Castleman (Terry), Sara Katherine Mitchell (Sonny); four grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Mitchell, Adrienne Michelle Mitchell, Clayton Evan Mitchell, Kelli Lyn Castleman, and several nieces and nephews. Sara graduated from Memphis State University in 1967 with honors - Summa Cum Laude while raising her family. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 20 years of service as a Tax Examiner/Auditor. Services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue on Thursday, February 21 at 10 a.m., with burial in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m. Immediately after the service, family and friends are invited to stay for a light lunch and remembrance before leaving for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice .
