Scott Moss Jr.

Scott Moss Jr was born February 11, 1948, to the late Scott Moss and Ella Ree Moss in Oxford, Mississippi. He departed this life on December 16, 2021.

Scott began his Christian journey at the age of 12, accepting Christ at Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R. B. Holloway. He later joined Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis under the leadership of Reverend Robert Jones Jr. until his death.

Scott attended Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Mississippi where he was well-known for his sportsmanship in basketball and football. After joining The United States Army in 1971, Scott fought in the Vietnam War. He was later discharged in 1976 under Honorable conditions.

Scott moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2001 where he worked for a nursing home in environmental services. It is there where he met the love of his life, Katie Lee Moss. They married in February 2003. Katie was a very loving and devoted wife who took great care of Scott. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2021.

Scott leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Ricky Darnell Shuford of Bridgeport, Connecticut; two sisters, Catheline (Fred-deceased) Stewart of Memphis, Tennessee, Luella (Larry) Shelton of Cordova, Tennessee; one brother, Dura (Lura) Moss of Holly Springs, Mississippi; three stepsisters, Prescilla (David) Carney of Naperville, Illinois, Patricia (Willie) Jones of Romeoville, Illinois, Pamela Kuykendall of Naperville, Illinois; three stepbrothers, Larry Chatmon (Crystal) of Plainfield, Illinois, Michael (Angie) Moss of Chicago, Illinois, Herman (Debra) Moss of Naperville, Illinois; a host of loving nieces and nephews who were very fond of him, many cousins and great friends.

A visitation for Scott will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Blvd., Memphis, Tennessee 38114. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12:00 PM, 1165 Airways Blvd., Memphis, Tennessee 38114. A burial will occur Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, Tennessee 38125.
