Toyce Cornelius Mitchell

He grew up in a large farming family. It was there that he met the love of his life, Bobbie Nell Pate. They were married on her eighteenth birthday, August 4,1956 and shortly thereafter moved to Kenosha Wisconsin where he worked for American Motors/Chrysler until his retirement.

After retiring they moved to Bartlett TN where he enjoyed taking daily walks with and caring for "Ronnie", their developmentally disabled son until he and Bobbie went into Memory Care.

Cornelius departed this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Collierville TN at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 4 days.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Bobbie Nell Mitchell, daughter Kathy Leis (Bob) of Garner NC, sons Steve Mitchell (Becky) of Piperton TN and Ronald Mitchell of Memphis TN. Grandchildren Faith Mitchell, Ryne Mitchell, Manda Yszenga, Malory Rafeldt, Megan Sandine and Mathew Leis. He also leaves 15 Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Cornelius was predeceased by his brothers, J.B. Mitchell, R.V. Mitchell, Jimmie Mitchell, John Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Bob Mitchell and sisters Ruby Hutcheson and Inez Nelson.

A graveside service for Cornelius will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
