Wanda Seymour Shorb

Florida, Winter Haven - WANDA SEYMOUR SHORB died on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Methodist Hospice. She was 84. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 3, 1927, she came to Winter Haven in 1985 after raising her family in Silver Springs, Maryland. She was a secretary at Grand Island Army Airfield and Walter Reed Naval Hospital just after World War II. She was a member of PEO, a past president of Cypresswood 18 Hole Ladies Golf Association and the multiple bridge groups. Mrs. Shorb is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Franklin Shorb; son, Gary Shorb (Glenda); daughter, Janice Wein (Fred) both of Memphis. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Hagerman, John Shorb, Chris Wein, Anna (Corey) Holley, and Katie Beth Wein; three great-grandchildren, Jack Hagerman, Will Hagerman and Ella Grace Holley. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 29 at Covenant United Methodist Church, with services following at 3 p.m. Memorial gifts may be given to Methodist Hospice, 12 11 Union Avenue, Suite 450, Memphis 38104, in lieu of flowers.
