Mr. Willester Clark, Jr. lived a full life with great love for Jesus, his wife of fifty years, Jean, his family, his favorite state of Mississippi, fishing, his church family - Cornerstone Gospel Baptist Church, road trips in his white van, his music, and carpentry and flooring. An entrepreneur, he owned “Southern Rug and Carpet Company,” and he has renovated many corporate buildings, houses, and churches. In high demand for his flooring, he continued his work well into his late seventies.
A great family man, he wed his lovely bride, Jean, on Valentine’s Day in 1970. A gentle man, his children fondly recall that he always led them in the right direction when they misbehaved. He introduced them to diverse musical genres, a love for animals, and showed great kindness to all people. When he drove his children to the bus stop (less than a block away), he would allow all the other classmates to wait in the comfortable white van until the school bus arrived.
An active member of Cornerstone Gospel Baptist Church in Byhalia, Mississippi, “Willie” happily served with his younger brother and Pastor, Elder Norris Clark, Sr., taught Sunday School, led prayer, and enjoyed the fellowship and great meals served by First Lady Mrs. Karen Clark. He loved his church family.
Mr. Clark graduated from Hernando Central High School in 1957. He will be greatly missed by the Hernando Central Alumni Committee, where he served on the Planning Committee since the first reunion in 1979. Eventually he filled the position of President and disc jockey at the reunions.
As we celebrate his life, we remember his immediate family members who have gone before him. Preceding him in death are his parents, Willester Clark, Sr. and Earline Bowen Clark; brothers, Elder Lavern Clark (Dorothy) and Elder Joe Clark; brothers-in-law, Bishop Winfer Turner (Roxie Jean) and Mr. Charles Harris, Sr. (Joyce).
