William “Bill” James Simmons, Jr., 60, of Memphis, Tennessee died on December 26, 2013. A local attorney for many years in East Memphis, Bill was a member of the Memphis & Shelby County Bar Association. He was also an active member in the Bankhead’s Battery & and Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Simmons was born on November 16, 1953 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to William Sr. & Rebecca Reid Simmons. His friends will gather at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Friday, January 10 from five o’clock in the evening until a memorial service begins at seven o’clock that evening. Beside his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister Katherine E. Simmons. He survived by his cousins Sara Lawson Bowlus, CA, James S. Lawson, Jr., Meridian, MS, Dayton Lawson Miller, OR, Anne Simmons-Benton, VA, D.C. Simmons, III, TX, and Carol Simmons-Martin, FL; and a third cousin, Billy Ethridge who lives in California and a host of friends and peers here in Memphis.
