

Alois J. Wilz, “Ollie”, age 101, of Menasha, passed away on Sunday morning, September 30, 2012, in the loving care of the staff at Gardenview Assisted Living in Menasha. On August 15, 1911, Ollie was born in the Town of Ellington, WI, the son of the late Henry and Helen (Demerath) Wilz. He was married to Martha Lewandowski; she preceded him in death in 1988. Ollie retired from Marathon/American Can in 1976. He had been a member of St. Mary Parish in Menasha since 1938. Ollie loved music and baseball. He played in numerous bowling and golf leagues. Gardening was a favorite pastime as was playing cards. He always enjoyed family get-togethers and was a great story teller. Ollie lived life to the fullest.
Ollie will be missed by his loving daughter and son-in-law: Helen and Fritz Heiss; his grandchildren: Lori (Larry) McIlhone, Pam (Randy) Ruffing, Pat (Barb) Wilz, Kevin (Susie) Wilz, Beth (special friend, Dave) Wilz, Derrick (Lauri) Wilz, Mike (Anna) Wilz, Frank Witt, Barb (Shane) Kelliher, Amy (Marty) Robbins, Rebecca Heiss, Jennifer (Amber Ross) Heiss, Peg (Gene) Roark, and Kurt (Miki) Heiss; and his former daughter-in-law, Deanne Turner. There are 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren in his family. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Napoleon (Marie) Wilz and Henry (Regina) Wilz; a sister, Marie (John) Green; a son, John (Carol) Wilz; and a grandson, James Heiss.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha.
