

Richard Heindl passed into the hands of the Lord on December 24, 2011. Richard was born on June 3, 1927 in Menasha, WI. to the late John and Clara (Dombrowski) Heindl. Richard entered WWII at age 17 and served as a Navy Seaman First Class. Upon his return from service he began working as a Pressman at the Geo. Banta Company (now R.R. Donnelley) until his retirement in 1962. After retirement, Richard and Geraldine were Transport Agents for Behm Motors in Appleton.
He married the love of his life, Geraldine Francart of Neenah, on November 20, 1948 at St. Patrick Parish, Menasha. As a young man, he and Geraldine enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, playing cards, fishing, and most of all traveling. Richard was a member of the American Legion and a Winnebago County Deputy Sheriff.
Richard was a vibrant part of the Menasha community by serving as Alderman of the 4th
Ward for 12 years. He was also a Winnebago County Supervisor for 2 years. As a member of St John Parish in Menasha, Richard was involved in the Holy Name Society and other committees as well as Parish ministry. Above all, Richard’s family was the most important thing in his life.
Richard is lovingly survived by his wife, Geraldine Heindl; son, James (Mary) Heindl of Combined Locks; daughter, Paula (David) Hayford of Oshkosh and grandchildren: Kevin Hayford and fiancé, Ashley Stini (Oshkosh), Ryan (Melissa) Heindl (Richfield, Minnesota), Brian Hayford (Neenah), Erica (Justin) Johnson (Neenah), Michelle Heindl (Combined Locks) and Melanie (Mitchell) Smith (Minnetonka, Minnesota). He is further survived by 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene and sister, Lucille (John) Hammes.
Richard’s Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 DePere Street, Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
