

Chris was known for his unfiltered humor, generous heart, and deep devotion to his family. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk from 1986 to 1990. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a Safety Specialist and Trainer. He was deeply passionate about safety, exceptionally knowledgeable in his field, and took great pride in teaching and mentoring.
Chris is survived by his son, Connor Hickok, and stepson, Joseph DeCasperis; his brother, John Hickok II, and his spouse, May-Ling; his sister, Dorina Perry-Barr, and her spouse, Ashli; and his stepsister, Danelle Parks. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Hannah and John Hickok III, and Grayson and Ayla Perry-Barr; his uncle, Bob Hickok, and his husband Arturo Zavala; his aunt, Susie Harris Cartwright; and his cousins, Brandon and Hawley Cartwright, and Tori and Carlos Yarber. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Terri (Vance), the mother of Connor; his second wife, Ilyssa Esgar-DeCasperis, the mother of Joseph; and his parents, Gay Harris Duncan and John & Pat Hickok.
A memorial service will be held on March 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Menifee, followed by a burial service with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T), a cause close to Chris and Ilyssa’s hearts in support of 9/11 first responders.
Chris will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
